I am glad that you visited Trinity Lutheran Church’s website. I am Youngshim Pitcher. I am the Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church. I came to serve, live, and love the people of Trinity in October of 2017. It is God’s amazing blessing to serve as Pastor and to be a part of this wonderful community.

I was born and raised in South Korea, and I immigrated to the U.S. in 2003. I became a U.S. citizen in 2009. Originally my family was Buddhist, but my parents converted to Christianity when I was four years old. I have a bachelor’s degree in Theology from Mokwon University in Daejon, South Korea, and a master’s degree in Theology from Methodist Theological Seminary in Seoul, South Korea. I studied Minjung Theology, Liberation Theology, Korean Feminism, and Korean Feminist Theology at both schools. I also have a Master’s of Divinity (M.Div.) from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA.

One interesting fact about me is when I was in South Korea, I was interested in women’s rights; thus, it led me to become involved in the ministry for Korean women who were marketing their bodies to American soldiers around American military camps in South Korea. Some of these women were also victims of sex trafficking from the Philippines, Russia, and China. It was very hurtful and such an eye-opening experience that now I see it as a turning point in my life as a young adult.

Currently, I am studying family systems theory because it helps me greatly to understand my family origin, and myself as a person and as a spiritual leader of Christ’s church. In my downtime, I have been enjoying watching Korean soap operas from Amazon and Netflix, making quilt tops, and reading books.
